Dalsa is one of the gravy that goes well with Briyani .This is a gravy made with channa dal and vegetables.Usually vegetables like Brinjal/ egg plant , Drumstick goes well with this dish.But other vegetables can also be used.

Here we need to use mixture of two dals / Lentils ,basically Channa Dal in addition to that any other Dal like masoor dal or moong Dal.
I used channa dal and Moong dal Combination.
Actually I have left over cabbage Dal Made in refrigerator,so instead of making new moong Dal i added the left over Cabbage Dal to this recipe.But i am going to give the ingredients for whole recipe,but in picture i will tell where i added the Moong dal.

Ingredients:

Black Cardamom - 2
Green Cardamom - 2
Cloves - 4
Bay Leaves - 3
Star Anise -1 
Cinnamon - 1 stick
Cumin Seeds - 2 teaspoon
Peppercorns - 1 teaspoon
Ginger Garlic Paste - 2 teaspoon
Chilli powder (optional) - 1/4 teaspoon
Cumin powder - 1/4 teaspoon
Coriander powder - 1/2 teaspoon
Channa dal  - 1/3 cup
Moong Dal - 1/3 cup
Turnip -1 medium size
Cabbage (optional) - 1 cup chopped
Olive oil -1 tsp
Mustard Seeds - 1/2 tsp
Turmeric Pd - 1 tsp
Onion - 1/4 cup
Green Chillies -1 
Tomato - 1/2 cup chopped
Coriander Leaves - For Garnishing
Lemon juice - 1 tsp
Salt

Method:


1.Take a pressure cooker and add oil ,then add garam masala,once they release aroma add cumin seeds and pepper corns.
 2.Then add Onions and green chillies and saute them well.Then add Ginger Garlic Paste and saute them well too.

 3.Then add Coriander Pd , cumin Pd , chilly Pd and turmeric and saute them well till raw smell is gone ,you can add a tbsp of water to prevent the spices from burning too.

 4.Then add turnip ,tomato and cabbage ,mix them well.
 5.Then add Channa Dal and Moong Dal and add 2 cups of water and let it cook for 10 whistles.As channa Dal Takes long time to cook.
 6.Then open the cooker once steam is released on its own.
 7.This is the stage i am going to add cabbage Dal from left over.I am just showing the picture but you can skip this part.
 8.Mixing all Dal together ,add salt and make it into a thick gravy consistency.Finally Squeeze lemon juice and garnish with coriander leaves.
 Dalsa is ready to serve with Briyani .This goes well with Chapathi and white rice also.
