Didnt have any veg to make sambar...go for this....



Ingredients:


Oil - 1 tbsp
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Turmeric pd - 1 tsp
Fenugreek pd - 1/4 tsp (or if whole add 5 to 6 )
Hing - 1/4 tsp
Curry leaf - 1 sprig
Onion - 1 whole medium size onion sliced
Tomato - 1 med size diced
Carrot - 1 (optional)
Sambar pd - 1 tbsp
Green Chillies - 5 no sliced
Salt - as needed
Masoor dhal / Thur dhal - 1/3 cup
Water - 2 cups
Lemon juice - 1 tsp
Coriander Leaves - 1/4 cup

Method:

Take a pressure cooker and add oil ,once oil is hot add mustard seeds and curry leaf and then add onions,green chillies and turmeric pd,along with salt and fenugreek pd and hing...Once onion is little cooked add tomato and saute for 2 min then add sambar pd...mix well...add 1/4 cup of water so masala wont get dry or burn ....then add carrot(if u are using)....mix well and add dhal and water and let it boil ...then cover it with lid...once steam comes through nozzle...put whistle and let it cook for 5 to 6 whistles...then switch off stove and let steam release on its own...
Once the steam is released ,open the cooker and add salt ,lemon juice and coriander leaves ....
