Vanapayar (Black Eyed Lentils) Thoran


Ingredients :


Blacked Eye Lentils - 3 cups cooked
for this soak 1 cup dry lentil in water overnight or for 4 hrs.Then pressure cook with 3 cups water with little salt for 10 whistles,then drain and keep aside.Dont throw away water use it in curry or drink it with little sugar.
Coconut - 1/2 cup
Jerra - 1 tsp
Garlic - 1 small clove
Turmeric Pd - 1 tsp
Salt - as needed
Coconut Oil - 1 tsp
Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp
Dry Red chillies  - 3
Curry Leaf - 1 sprig

Method:

Grind coconut, jeeva and garlic for few pulses  don't grind it too much.Let it be coarse.
1.Take a kadai and add oil ,once it's hot add mustard seeds,red Chilly, curry leaf.
2. Once they are sauteed add lentils and turmeric pd.Stir it for 5 min.
3.Then add ground Masala and mix well.
4.Keep flame in low and keep lentils in heap and cover and cook for 5 min.
This will help coconut to cook in steam with not too much heat.
5.Serve it with hot theeyal and Rice with papad.
