Oats Rava Idly

So i was planning to make a simple recipe which is do yet healthier, so this oats rava idly came to mind.Its better than regular idly as the rice and dal is replaced by oats and rava.Rice and dal are not bad but sometimes when we are tending to make some low calorie and fast recipes , they can be little difficult to accomplish while using rice and dal.This idly is instant , fast and not to mention it's extremely tastier too...infact I added lot of vegetables to make it more nutritious.And not a little bit of oil is used too.So are you also looking for some quick, tasty , healthy recipe then you should try this recipe, and here's the recipe if you are interested. ...

Ingredients:

Oats -1 cup
Semolina / rava - 1/2 cup
Carrot cubed or shredded- 1/4 cup
Peas - 1/4 cup
Coriander leaves chopped finely - 1/4 cup
Salt - as needed
Baking soda - 1/2 tsp
Buttermilk - 1 cup (or)use milk + 1 tsp vinegar
Jeera - 1 tsp, crush it very lightly to coarse powder, don't crush too much.

Tips: If you don't have buttermilk you can make your own, just add 1 cup milk + 1 tsp vinegar and mix and let it sit for 5 min, your homemade instant buttermilk is ready.
This won't taste like regular buttermilk that you drink, but it's good as cooking substitute of buttermilk.
Add different veggies to your liking, if you are feeding 2 year kids cook vegetable first then add for easy chewing. I used diced carrot but shredded will also be good, in that case don't have to cook carrot.

Method:

1.Make oats to fine powder.Then mix oats with semolina and salt .

2.Then mix milk and vinegar and keep aside for 5 min.
3.Add water to oats rava mixture and make it to a thick batter and leave it aside for 10 min ,this will make sooji softer which will make idly soft.

3.Then add cooked vegetables , crushed jeera and coriander leaves. and mix well

4.Set the idly cooker and get ready.
5.Now add baking soda and immediately add vinegar milk mixture and stir to infuse air into the batter.This will give soft idlies.

6.Now pour the batter into idly container and cover and cook for 10 min.


7.Remove idly container and to remove idly dip a spoon in water and remove it.This helps in easy removal, for each idly dip the spoon in cold water .


8.Serve it with mint coriander chutney.
