Chili Recipe

Well are you thinking of some recipe that is healthy , easy and has complete nutritional value then chilli is that kind of recipe.
It has lot of veggies, meat, beans all cooked slowly in a slow flame for 2 hours just like dum in Indian cooking.Its so tasty the kids will enjoy it and if your kids just hate eating veggies then this is the dish you have to make.Since all the veggies and beans and meat are cooked in slow flame for a long time they all become soft and very tender and ita blended well together and it tastes real good.So why don't you take a break during meal time while feeding kids as they are going to love this recipe and feed on their own, to add extra healthy fat you can top it with some shreaded cheese too.Now say which kid will refuse this.And you can also be satisfied that you are feeding your kid a hearty, healthy meal....Chili is a Tex-Mexican Recipe which is had as an comforting food or an easy food to serve on a game day.


Hot/Sweet Italian Sausage, removed from the casing - 2

Ground Beef - 1 lb
Large Onion, diced - 1
Red Bell Pepper, seeded and diced - 1
Jalapeno Pepper, seeded and finely chopped - 1
Garlic Cloves, minced - 3
Chili Powder - 2 tbsp
Ground Cumin - 2 tsp
Brown Sugar - 1 1/2 tbsp
Tomato - 3 pureed in blender
Dried Oregano - 1 tsp
Beef Stock- 3/4 cup (Use water if you don't have stock)15oz can of Red Kidney Beans, drained and rinsed - 1

2 Tbsp of Olive Oil , i didn't use oil i used oil rendered from the meatSalt and Pepper, to taste
Italian Sausage


1) In a large pot over medium high heat, cook together ground beef and remove all the oil,and then add sausages and break the sausage and help it cook along with ground meat. 

2.Then add all the spices(chilly pd ,cumin,coriander , brown sugar) and stir it till its cooked then add all the veggies and saute it well.Add salt at this stage.

3.I just Transferred the content now to a bigger pan so its easy to pour liquid,but you can start with a bigger pan itself from the beginning.
4.Grind tomatoes to a fine puree and add that to the pan now and give it a stir.Add extra water if needed and cover and cook for 5 min.

5.Now add kidney beans and stir and cover and cook in slow flame for 2 hr.
6.Then remove cover and let it  cook in low flame for 1 hr.
7.Do a taste check at this stage and add salt.Squeeze in a juice of lemon at the end to blend all teh flavours.Garnish with coriander / mint / parsley leaf.
8.Serve this in a bowl with cheese topping and some tortilla chips for crunchiness. or add some rice in bowl and have it as a soup. or have it with a piece of bread.
