Paruppu Payasam

Jimmi B'day Delight


Green Gram Dhal – 1 cup
Jaggery powdered – 1 cup
Coconut Milk – ½ cup
Cardamom powder – ½ teaspoon
Cashew Nuts – 5 to 6
Ghee – 1 teaspoon


1.Dry roast the green gram dhal till it become light brown.
2.Add two cups water and pressure cook it for two to three whistles.
3.In another thick bottomed vessel, put the jaggery and add half cup water and bring to boil.
4.When it starts boiling, add the cooked dhal mashed well. Stir for a while.
5.Add coconut milk and allow to cook on a low flame.
6.Fry the cashew nuts in the ghee and add to the payasam.
7.Add cardamom powder and mix well.
