Sometimes during hot Summer this traditional Indian drink is the best solution, as a summer cooler or a welcome drink to quench the thirst and its cooling properties helps to cool our system too.
This age-old simple recipe has many spices, the luxury of the cardamom flavor,the heat of the pepper and ginger pd blending with the sweet flavor of jaggery water which is so refreshing that you can have 2-3 glasses at one go and still be asking for more..:).
Note:Ginger ,Pepper and Sonth (dry ginger) are traditionally recommended by Ayurvedic to heal ailments of the stomach and throat and especially recommended as home remedies for cold and sore throat.
Ingredients:
Jaggery - 1/2 cup crush into powderPepper corns - 4 crushed(optional)
Cardamom - 3remove skin and crush the seeds, keep the skin for garnishing
Dry ginger powder - 1/2 tsp
Lemon juice - 1 tbsp
Tulsi(Basil) Leaves - 2 for Garnishing
Salt - just a small pinch
Tamarind - 1 tsp (optional)
Method:
Take 3 cups of water ,add Jaggery and dissolve it completely and filter it to remove any sediments.
Then add crushed cardamom,pepper,dry ginger powder ,salt ,Tamarind and lemon juice.
Garnish with Tulsi leaves and cardamom skins.
Serve Chilled
