Sometimes during hot Summer  this traditional Indian drink is the best solution, as a summer cooler or a welcome drink to quench the thirst and its cooling properties helps to cool our system too.

This age-old simple recipe has many spices, the luxury of the  cardamom flavor, the heat of the pepper and ginger pd blending with the sweet flavor of jaggery water which is so refreshing that you can have 2-3 glasses at one go and still be asking for more..:).

Note:Ginger ,Pepper and Sonth (dry ginger) are traditionally recommended by Ayurvedic to heal ailments of the stomach and throat and especially recommended as home remedies for cold and sore throat.

Jaggery - 1/2 cup crush into powder
Pepper corns - 4 crushed(optional)
Cardamom - 3remove skin and  crush the seeds, keep the skin for garnishing
Dry ginger powder - 1/2 tsp
Lemon juice - 1 tbsp
Tulsi(Basil) Leaves - 2 for Garnishing
Salt - just a small pinch

Tamarind - 1 tsp (optional)

Take 3 cups of water ,add Jaggery and dissolve it completely and filter it to remove any sediments.
Then add crushed cardamom, pepper, dry ginger powder ,salt ,Tamarind and lemon juice.

Adding Tamarind is to enhance the tart flavour in the drink. If You lemon juice is aleady enough tangy you can avoid it.

Same goes to Pepper ,if u like a little hot flavour in your Drink add it,or you can omit it too.
