I Didn't have any Veggies to cook today.And it was very cold outside didn't feel like doing grocery shopping.So i have to improvise with something left in pantry.When i looked i found different types of  lentils ,so i tried to make this recipe in the intention of having as a side dish with chapati.
I am not just telling it came out fantastic with mild flavors of tomatoes and spices.
I don't have to mention its a healthy dish too.
I tried this recipe with Cannelloni bean(canned bean),Black Gram Dal (Kaala dal)and Green Gram Dal(Moon Dal Whole)..But you can use what ever lentils you have in your pantry.




Ingredients:


Whole Green Gram Dal - 2 tbsp
Black Gram Dal - 2 tbsp
Cannelloni Bean - 1 can / 14 Oz
Onion - 1 small onion,diced finely
Tomato - 1 Big size , diced finely
Ginger Garlic Paste -1 tsp each.
Turmeric Pd - 1 tsp
Coriander Pd - 1/4 tsp
Roasted Cumin Pd - 1/4 tsp
Chilly Pd - 1/4 tsp
Dry Fenugreek Leaves - 1 tbsp,crushed
Amchur / Dry Mango Pd - 1 tbsp
Lime Juice -1 tsp
Salt - as needed
Garam Masala - 1/4 tsp
Hing/Asafoetida -  a pinch



Method:


  1. Pressure Cook Dry Dal (don't pressure cook canned one) with 3/4 cup of water with a pinch of hing and turmeric pd for 5 whistles.


2.Open lid when the pressure is released completely on its own.

3.Add the cannelloni bean to it.


4.Take a pan and add oil.
5.Add Onions and add turmeric pd and saute till onions are brown and crispy.
6.Add Ginger Garlic Paste and saute till the raw smell is gone.
7.Then add diced tomatoes and saute them very well till tomatoes and onions are completely mushed up
8.Then add cumin pd, coriander pd, chilly pd,garam masala. and saute them.

9.Then add dry fenugreek pd,by crushing them with your palms.Saute them very well till all spices are cooked well.

10.Now add the Dal to the masala and mix them
11.Then add Amchur pd and salt ,by doing a taste check.
12.Let them cook for 2 min.
13.Finally Garnish with Coriander Leaves.


Tips:


1.Cut onions and tomatoes very finely
2.Garnish with lot of coriander leaves while serving.
